I grew up in Memphis, TN but have lived in Denver the last 21 years, and I went to college here in the mid-90’s at DU.  I have 4 kids ages 11, 14, 16, and 18. We live in SE Denver and the older ones go to South HS. My oldest son just graduated last May and moved to Georgia to attend UGA and major in business/marketing.  They all play sports like football, basketball, volleyball, soccer and golf. I like running and yoga mainly, plus most things outside enjoying our beautiful state like hiking, camping, and riding my motorcycle. We have 1 dog (Wilber, pictured above) and 3 cats plus a turtle for pets.  I love to create and make all kinds of art, which lately has been more mixed media and collage based, as well as body art, like tattoo design. I also lived overseas in my 20’s in Europe and Africa, which has greatly influenced my passion for learning about and experiencing other cultures, which I like to incorporate into my own artwork and in the classroom.

At Legacy Options High School I teach Drawing and Painting classes.  I received a BFA from DU with a concentration in Drawing and Painting for undergrad and a MAT for the Visual Arts from RISD, plus a CO K-12 certification. This will be my 7th year here and 10th year teaching overall. We explore the elements and principles of design through projects that apply these visual art basics with a variety of themes and media experimentation.  We look at different local and international artists for inspiration in our work and try to tie that into our own personal interests and style as artists ourselves.
